Life: The Distiller of Potentials into Products..

Crude oil as we all know when brought out from the womb of the earth is not useful to man in that state it is because it is UNREFINED. It's usefulness begins when it is subjected to a process known as fractional distillation where it is subjected to a heating process. When crude is passed through that process something interesting begins to happen.  At various temperatures, the crude oil releases a particular product with a specific characteristic and this goes on until the last of the products are released and the crude oil becomes 'used up'. Life is like that crude oil when drilled out of the earth. We come into this world like that, in our raw form full of potentials, but not good enough to be ' enjoyed' by mankind.  Then life itself puts us into that fractionating column and begins to use the 'heat' of challenges to distill us and bring out useful products at each unique temperature. The more we are refined by the heat, the more useful o...

Gratitude.

Hello friends, How has your week been?  Today let's look at the attitude of gratitude. Gratitude has been defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the feeling or state of appreciation or thankfulness. As human beings in our day to day dealings with other people whenever someone shows  us gratitude for whatever help we render to them, it triggers this good feelings within us and makes us want to do more for them. It's the same thing with life, each time we are grateful for whatever we have we tend to align with the forces that attract more good into our lives. We live in very trying times truth be told and the tendency to always focus on what we haven't gotten or acheived is always there but inspite of that, there is always something good going for us no matter how little. If we take time to consider it we will be grateful. Being thankful for life is one of the strongest antidote against depression.  There is always something to be thankful for. ...

Between Seasons..

Earlier this week I took sometime to observe the weather. It was quite interesting and funny.  I saw an interplay of two seasons trying to exert their effects on the environment.  For instance, for us here in the northern Nigeria, our rainy seasons are gradually rounding up to give way for the dry season and harmattan to come in. The sky looked like it was going to rain but no real clouds, then there's a kind of haze building up in the atmosphere. I looked at it all and smiled and something dropped in my mind as an inspiration from that little observation. In life when we are about to leave one season for the next, it hardly just changes abruptly. Most of the time we go through that phase where there's an interplay between the two, they are times of challenges and tests. They are times when we have this haziness concerning the next phase. We know deep down that this current season is over but the next hasn't opened and so we are in the corridor of li...

Know your kidneys.

Hello friends it's another Tuesday, Hope you're having a great week? So today we'll be looking at a very vital organ in our body that is essential to our lives and well being, I'm talking about the kidneys. By way of introduction, we'll like to say that the kidneys are paired bean shaped organs located on either side of the back portion of the abdominal wall. The left kidney  is slightly larger and a bit higher than that of the right due to the presence of the liver on the right. The left kidney is located below the spleen. The kidneys are covered by a thin capsule of connective tissue and fat which serves as a form of protection in addition to the back muscles an part of the ribs. The Kidneys have a depression in the centre referred to as the renal hilus  where the  renal artery, renal vein pass in and the ureter begins.  The structural and functional unit of the kidney is the nephron which is a system of tubules and capillaries that are ...

Staying Afloat in Tough Times.

Hello friends, It's a new week again. Hope you had wonderful weekend? As you go into the new week just determine to be positive against all odds. Life these days just keeps getting pretty challenging and difficult. We live in the days filled with so much uncertainties and this is global. Every nation now has one challenge or the other it is battling with. The news headlines don't help either, they mostly scream bad news. So in the midst of all these uncertainties how does one keep afloat? - Have a conversation with yourself and come to a conclusion that you will succeed against all odds. - Choose what you listen to. There's an overload of bad news all over already, cut down on how much attention you give to it. - Listen to  things that will bring you hope. - Be grateful for what you have now even if it's just your breath. - Pray and seek for divine help if you believe in God. - Speak positively. -Have faith that things will get bette...

How polite are you to service providers?

Hello Friends, How's been your day and your week? For so many of us we already know that popular cliche that says the 'Customer is King'. So when we go to ask for goods and services, we expect top notch attention to our demands. But has it ever occurred to us that our service providers also need some respect from us? This is our focus today.  Every year, millions of dollars are spent by organizations and individuals alike in  training programs just to acquire excellent and efficient customer service skills that can help them serve their clients better and optimally and honestly, giant strides have been made in that respect. Our focus now is on the flip side of the coin where the customer now relates with the service provider. Generally speaking because of the level of attention and possibly hype given to the customers many unfortunately have taken to abusing that privilege. In many societies, especially one like ours (Nigeria) we have noticed a ri...

How 'problem-solving' is your Education?

Education according to Wikipedia is the process of facilitating learning or acquisition of knowledge, skills, values,  beliefs and habits. The system or process of education as we know is as old as man himself. The word education comes basically from two variants in the Latin word 'educare' and 'educere.' Educare means to 'bring up' and educere means to 'bring forth'. These two root words give us a clear picture of what education is meant to be done with. Society does not educate her citizens just for the fun of it, there's always an end that is hoped to be achieved with that information given to the student. In recent times however  we have witnessed a global decline in the quality of this kind of education. Here especially in our 'obodo' Nigeria, we have seen how due to the falling and fallen standard of education, that most schooled persons do not really know what to do with the knowledge at their disposal. They...

Why you can't digest Milk Products well.

Lactose is defined as the type of sugar found in milk and diary products. Lactose Intolerance on the other hand as the name implies is a condition in which your digestive system fails to breakdown or digest and absorb this type of sugar into your body system. What could be the cause? From elementary integrated science we were told that the body produces some chemicals called 'enzymes' in the digestive tract that aid the breakdown of large molecules of the foods we eat into digestible and absorbable forms so the body can make use of it.  So lactose intolerance then means the inability of the body to digest and absorb milk and diary products due to a deficiency in an enzyme known as 'Lactase' which is saddled with the responsibility of breaking down the Lactose sugar. In some people it develops at adult stages in life (which is more common) but for some it is congenital meaning they were born with that (condition). And sadly babies born with such con...

Benefits of Diligence..

Vocabulary.com defines diligence as the quality of quietly and steadily persevering in detail or exactness. Diligence talks about hardwork, consistency and giving attention to what you do. Diligence is a highly sought after quality today especially by employers of labour. A diligent worker is a priceless asset to his or her organization and one who is sure to go far. In a world that laziness, distractions of all kinds are finding full expression among people, being diligent at what you do will make you stand out and a highly sought after. Diligence is one of the key pillars to a sure and lasting success in whatever endeavor it is you're involved in. Little wonder the Holy Bible says that ' the hand of the diligent shall bear rule' . Talent is good but without diligence it cannot become useful enough to be of benefit to humanity. Diligent people are the drivers of development and record breaking achievements. Lazy people can't do this no matter ho...
Hello friends happy weekend. My sincere apologies for not keep up with the attitude Friday post for yesterday. It was a madly hectic Friday patients and all. But I'll still be posting it today. Thanks for understanding. Patience Mamman.

YOU are here 'cos YOU matter.

Most of the time we tend to define our lives and the limits of what we can accomplish based on the negatives that have happened to us in our journey of life. For some it's been failure, some abuses , others abandonment and breavement and all kinds of unpalatable experiences human beings go through. The good news however is that what goes on around doesn't necessarily determine what you will become in life. Circumstances are subject to change and so have no absolute hold on the height you can attain in life. What you need to be all you're supposed to be was embedded in you from birth, your responsibility therefore is to disconnect from the negatives on the outside and reconnect with your inside to find out why you are here. There you'll meet with the One who packaged you for greatness and show you how to get there. You have all it takes, never think you're a mistake or a misfit. You're here now and you matter to humanity. Photo credit: Lib...

Are there consequences of not Adhering to Medical Instructions?

Hello friends and esteemed followers of this blog, how's been your day? One of the most common challenge health workers face is that of getting patients to comply with treatment schedules and programs. In this part of the world where I find myself, it's like a roller coaster situation on daily basis between the doctor, nurse or whichever medic is handling the case at hand and the patient. Most people do not understand that when they go to see a doctor and their ailment is diagnosed and they are placed on any treatment schedule that they are supposed to follow it to the later. The reason why it has to be so is this, for every ailment, there is a prescribed mode of treatment and even the drugs given are already calculated to be able to bring releif to the sick within that stipulated time. It is wisdom therefore to stick to the treatment till the end EXCEPT in situations where the situation gets out of hand then it can be discontinued. Also if you feel you're not get...

Accept Responsibility..

Last I weekend I boarded a bus going home after work.  While on the journey was on, rain began to fall and we noticed that one of the windows had no glass and the rains was pouring in on we the passengers. We began to complain and ask why they refused to fix their vehicle and yet had the effrontery to collect transport fare from the passengers. All our complains were met with a stiff silence from the driver and his 'conductor'.  No apologies were rendered, instead the conductor responded by being rude and shouting at passengers who wanted to alight to do so quickly and when we asked for a cloth to clean the soaked seats we we were told they had none. I watched this reaction and began to think in my mind how some people behave. They offend people, take advantage of them or expose them to uncomfortable conditions inspite of being duly rewarded for the services they're to render. Nothing destroys relationships of any kind like people refusing to taking responsib...

The Place of Honor in Relationships.

'Give honor to whom honour is due' is one very popular saying that we are all familiar with. But what exactly does it mean to give honour? According to the Oxford Living dictionaries, Honor as a verb is defined as having great respect for or give public respect for someone or something. It also means to hold someone or something in high esteem may be based on their worth, value, accomplishments or position in life. Honour is basically a thing of the mind. It is how we view and accord importance to thet thingswe perceive as worthy of our respect which in turn reflects in the way we treat or handle such people or institutions we perceive as honorable. Honour is earned, it is not something that is inherited. Something has to be done or a feat achieved for you to command that respect from people. When we know someone or a thing is Honorable what should be our attitude to it? What do we stand to gain or lose when we honor or dishonor people? We have alread...
