How 'problem-solving' is your Education?

Education according to Wikipedia is the process of facilitating learning or acquisition of knowledge, skills, values,  beliefs and habits.

The system or process of education as we know is as old as man himself.

The word education comes basically from two variants in the Latin word 'educare' and 'educere.'

Educare means to 'bring up' and educere means to 'bring forth'.

These two root words give us a clear picture of what education is meant to be done with.

Society does not educate her citizens just for the fun of it, there's always an end that is hoped to be achieved with that information given to the student.

In recent times however  we have witnessed a global decline in the quality of this kind of education.

Here especially in our 'obodo' Nigeria, we have seen how due to the falling and fallen standard of education, that most schooled persons do not really know what to do with the knowledge at their disposal.

They only see it as a token to be presented  to employers so they can earn their daily bread especially for those who pass through the formal system of education.

This is the reason we have a large pool of graduates from all kinds of schools yet so much unsolved societal problems.

Our system of education conditions it's graduates to become meal ticket driven rather than solution providers.

This is why at an average job interview when you want to find out what that individual can do using the tool of that course of study , you meet with a gridlock most of the times.

This is simply because, all he or she keeps saying to you by their  attitude and response is  "I' was trained just to obtain the paper which is what I've presented here as the requirement needed to get me my meal ticket, what else do you want from me?"

Problem solving kind of education is what has brought us here in technological advancements and all other kinds of giant strides we have taken so far in human history.
Therefore our system of education must be upgraded to become strategic for solving problems and making society a better place and not for raising lazy minded people who take away from the system and put nothing back.

We've made some progress in this regard though but more effort must be put in to drive the problem solving type of education.

We need to always remember that only solution oriented education drives development and advancement in any society.

I'm not against having a certificate but it must go beyond certificate to literally finding answers to the numerous human challenges facing us today.

In conclusion, the developments and achievements that results from your going through a system of  education is what truly makes you an educated fellow and not just the mere possession of a certificate.

You have been BROUGHT UP, now it's time to BRING FORTH those solutions.
