Is your speech graceful?

Hello friends. How's the been been? Thank God it's Friday again. This morning during my prayer time I read something from a devotional booklet I use. It had to do with speech. One of the things emphasized there was how, many a time, because of lack of wisdom in speaking to people so many have driven away from their lives valuable people and relationships. Effective and proper communication is an art that everyone who wants to go far in life must learn. Sometimes it is not enough to know what to say, how to say it is also important, in fact far more important. We know that words are like eggs and once dropped they cannot be put together again.  Therefore it is important that we are very, very deliberate and intentional in with our speech. We live in a time when people are so insensitive and just throw words at people whether close friends, family or even strangers without bothering about the effect on them. I read from the Bible in Proverbs that a ...

You are stronger than you think.

Happy new week friends. I hope you had a great weekend. I believe there were times in your life that you were confronted by a challenge that seemed beyond you. Then you looked at yourself and the challenge you just surmounted and wondered how you did that. I'm here to tell you that you did it because you were way stronger than you thought. Lessons on boldness from the woman with the Issue of blood.

Hello friends how has the week been for you? It's the last weekend of the first month of the year already. 2018 has begun it's flight as well. I hope we make the most of the year a time waits for no one. Today we'll be looking at the attitude of boldness and I'll be telling a story that encapsulates that. Happy reading! Yesterday evening while listening to a preacher online, he made reference to the story of the woman with the issue of blood as recorded in the Bible. Now whether you believe in that or not, there are lifetime lessons there I found that I would like to share. This woman we were told had a health condition that made her bleed continuously for about 12 years. She went to see the doctors in her days and couldn't get any cure. Obviously medicine was still in its crude form back then. One day she heard of a man, a rabbi who had this ability to heal either by speaking to the sick or laying his hands on them. She decided in her heart to go an...

Harmful Effects of Bleaching.

Hello friends! How's the week going for you? Our point of discussion today will be on the harmful effects of bleaching the skin. Enjoy! Bleaching is defined by the Meriam Webster as the process of removing stain or color from something . Dictionary.com also defines it as the process of making whiter or lighter in color by exposure to sunlight or chemicals. So in the context of our write up bleaching is simply the process by which the skin is made lighter in color through the use of chemicals mostly. Bleaching of the skin is an age long practice among human beings either for aesthetic or medical reasons. Bleaching was used in the not too distant past as a medical procedure for helping persons with problems of hyperpigmentation which was as a result of some abnormalities in the process involved in the production of melanin; the pigment that gives the skin it's characteristic colour. Creams and topical preparations containing compounds like HYDROQUINONE were used ...

From the suicide rope to the Billionaire's club.

Hello friends welcome to another new week. How did your weekend go? I hope you took out sometime to rest. If you didn't for whatever reason, start making out time for that. Today on our new week motivation, we shall be traveling down memory lane to look at someone who defied the odds and made it at the end of the day. For mehis story is one of those that have and keep motivating me whenever I feel like giving up. His name is Colonel Harland Sanders. The founder of the KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN empire. This is how his life began; -Lost his dad at age 5. - Quit school at age 16. - Had to care for his younger ones as his mum went off to work. Therefore he learnt how to cook and do house chores. - His mum remarried, step dad didn't want the male children so he had to be sent to work at a farm. - At age 17 he had already lost for jobs. - At age 18 he got married. - Became a railroad conductor between ages 18- 22. - Became a father at 19. - At age 20 his wi...

I went from Failure to a Dream Career.

My journey in the university began with an admission to study medicine and surgery. My name was published on the merit list that makes it to the dailies. A neighbor actually saw it and brought the newspaper home for me to see if it was my name. It turned out it was mine. Everyone was happy for me, proud parents, happy siblings, happy neighbors and a happy me. I got in and we began. First year was spent basically in the sciences where we still took courses in Advanced level physics, biology and the likes. Everything was fine until first semester results came out. I did well in the chemistrys, physics surprisingly was below average and then the bombshell. I failed my biology courses. I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought it was a mistake, me that had a B in my O' level biology how come? I tried to complain and see if I could get my scripts but the entire process became frustrating so I gave up trusting to do better in second semester. Second semester came, histo...

Lessons from a visit to the Orphanage.

During the Christmas season I was invited by a friend to go on an outreach to some orphanages with her. I quickly agreed and prepared towards that. We set out on the eve of Christmas and were able to visit two orphanages. When we got to the first one, we met one of the caregivers holding an infant of say 4-5 months and as we proceeded with the discussions and questions about how they do what they do the story of that little baby came up. She was born to a mother who didn't want her and wanted to kill her by suffocation until a friend of the mum walked in and caught her in the act and stopped her. She then suggested that instead of doing that let them take the baby to an orphanage and that was how she got there.  This and several other stories about how most of the children got there were told and it was a sad and sobering moment for me and the other members of the team we went with. Many thoughts crossed my mind during those visits and I'd like to share a few of t...

Be a doer, not just a sayer.

Hi everyone! On our new week motivation today I'll just want to encourage you that as you embark on this journey to having a great and profitable year make sure you deliberately choose to be a doer not just a sayer. There will be so many lessons, seminars, conferences, courses you will embark on and lots of things will be taught. The key to being successful is taking those things one at a time and making sure you imbibe them until you see results. This is the spirit that births greatness. Great people are those who do not just get carried away with the euphoria of learning, listening to motivational speeches but those who take the extra step to practice what they have learnt until it becomes results.  So as you journey through the year, make up your mind that you will be an achiever not by just saying but by doing.  Remember what you don't put to use becomes USE-LESS. Have a fruitful week.  Photo credit: hotandcoldaf.devianart.com ...

New year/ New week motivation.

Happy 2018 folks. We made it into this beautiful year! Did I hear you ask "beautiful? How do you know it's going to be beautiful when it's just the second day?" Oh well I know it will be because the year is just a blank page and your input is what will make it what it will become for you eventually. 2017 may have not been smooth for you, it may have brought you so much pain and heartache and pain, i agree but you don't have to dwell there forever. That year is gone already, never to return so move on too. It doesn't matter how much you were wounded by life's challenges in the past, please don't pass away with the past. Like I always say humorously that it's just another year that's ended not your entire life or destiny there fore it's not over until you say so. This is another year, another new week to begin again. You can rewrite the rest of your life's story from this moment if you're interested. Wishing you all a...

Celebrate Yourself.

Hello people. Happy new week. Hope we all had a restful weekend? It's another week again and the year is gradually rolling away. For many the end of a year comes with so much anxiety, feelings of disappointments due to unmet expectations and unrealized goals. We are humans and it's okay to set goals and have expectations but it's also okay to be at peace if those expectations didn't turn out the way we wanted. So many of us have worked so hard during the year, given our best and now that the year is wrapping up, let's do well to celebrate how far we have come. The truth is you may not have attained what you wanted to attain, but you are not where you used to be certainly. You've improved and grown in very remarkable ways that you can't imagine. That your progress was noiseless doesn't mean there wasn't any. Celebrate yourself, celebrate the gift of life you have, celebrate the fact that you were ill and now you're fine, celebrate...

Competition.

Hello everyone. How has your day been? Today we'll look at something we find very common among us as human beings. Competition is defined by the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary to mean; 1. A situation where people try to be more successful or better than someone else. 2.  An event where people compete with each other to find out the best at something. 3. The people who are competing against someone or whom someone is competing against. Our focus today is majorly on the first and perhaps the third definition. Competition is something that can both be healthy and move people forward or can become a destructive force that can slow down progress. When you see people set great records, do extraordinary things and you pick positive challenges from that and try to do your best as well to create a positive mark then you can be said to be in HEALTHY COMPETITION. On the other hand when people's progress makes you feel insecure, afraid, envious and unhapp...

Make the Days Count.

Hi friends, Looking back at the year in retrospect I believe everyone one of us will remember one or two persons they know that has passed on to the other side, by that I mean we know people who died this year. One of the reasons we keep hearing great people tell us to live meaningful lives is because our existence here is only for a while. It doesn't matter how old you become, someday you'll leave this phase of life and will become part of the long history of humanity. The question is how would you like to be remembered? What you like your unborn generation after you say when they hear of what you did while you were here? These are questions we will need to ponder on as we go about our daily activities. And just so we know, it's the day to day choices we make that span out as our life story in the long run. That cheer or pain you caused daily, that employee who's wages you denied or delayed unnecessarily, that person in need whom you could help bu...

When Anemia comes knocking..

Hello people! It's another time to look at our health issues once again. Today we'll be discussing about a common medical condition that affects people from time to time. You know that time when you visit your doctor and he or she looks at you and says "you don't have enough blood"... It's called ANEMIA. So What exactly is Anemia? According to the Oxford Medical Dictionary, anemia is a condition in which there is a reduction in the oxgyen-carrying pigment (hemoglobin) in the blood. WebMd also defines it as a condition in that develops when your blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin. Your pain is a birth pang of Greatness.

Hello people! Welcome to another new week. Hope you had a restful weekend? We are here again to stir up our spirits as we go into the week. Yesterday I had a phone conversation with a friend and she told me that Don Moen was at their church and how the service was awesome. She went ahead to narrate how during that service, he began to talk about his life story. He and his wife struggled with infertility issues for good 12 years before eventually going ahead to have 5 children in 8 years after the long wait. Listening to that story sparked some line of thoughts within me which is what I'm going to be sharing with us all this afternoon. 1. Every great man faced CHALLENGES. 2. Every great man persevered through the CHALLENGE. 3. Every great man eventually overcame that CHALLENGE. Check out the stories of great people and this is the pattern you will see in EVERY ONE of their life stories. There is no truly great man who didn't face problems and overcam...

People's Opinion: should it matter to us or not?

Hello friends, Happy new month y'all. It's December already! Wow! How time flies. I'm so excited! Christmas is by the corner.😁. We give thanks to God for the gift of life. Okay so today we'll be looking at something very common and which also has a profound effect on our lives. It is people's opinion. What is an opinion? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines opinion as; - A belief, judgement, view or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular thing. - It also means a generally held view about a thing. Man by nature is a social being which means he must interact and form relationships with people around him and this is perfectly okay. But we must also understand that there is also a place for our individuality and uniqueness to find expression. Sometimes in the midst of these interactions and relationships we tend to lose that uniqueness that is peculiar to each of us. We pick up the general views of the groups and people we intera...
