What Are Your Motives for Seeking a Good Life?

One of the reasons I love to read the Bible is not necessarily for religious reasons but all for the daily life lessons I get to learn from it.

This morning I read a passage in James 4 that struck a chord in my mind and want to share some lessons I got from there;

  AMP:What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?

You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.

AMP:[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.

While meditating on this little passage this is what I got and want to share.

- The source of envy and strife and conflict is lack.
When people lack something and see others with it, it genders strife and envy and anger.

- Sometimes the reason why we don't get is because we ask AMISS. This means that why you do not have the same results with your neighbor whom you envy is because you're not asking the right questions.

You're not asking how to rightly get that result you so desire.

- Lastly the reason sometimes we do not get what we desire is because our motives for getting it is wrong. We just want to satisfy our lust and even use that privilege to oppress those beneath us and because of that we are denied access.

So as you begin this new week beware of envy. If you see something you admire in someone find out how they got there and do likewise.

Envy, strife and jealousy will only leave you bitter and unfulfilled.

Success is possible but it's not by anger or strife.

It is by searching out the principles and obeying them.

The goodnews is it answers to everyone who cares to find out, regardless of your status, race and background.

Have a successful week ahead.

The Crisis of Identity.

When we went from placing value on what really matters to just external things humanity fell so hard and broke it's back. The impact of that fall is why we have so many people with low self esteem and terrible identity crises. Much more than failing economies, hunger, disease, widespread poverty is the crisis of the individual.  The crisis of seeking validation, of feeling some sort of worth and value. That inner questioning and probing that requires an answer. Sadly many people do not have the answer to that inner question. They then turn to things, all kinds of external things and invite them to come in and answer that inner man. Unfortunately the externals can't do so. They lack the capacity to answer those questions and the individual in a bid to either answer or silence that question seeks more of these externals and at every point they keep saying No, we don't have the answers. The individual is now confused, what do I do? Then he sights another human li...
