Essential reminders on Ovulation.

-------------------- ---------------- --------------- -------
What is Ovulation?

This is a period and a process where a mature egg is released from the ovary, pushed down the fallopian tube and made available for fertilization.

This process is usually part of the events that occur in a normal woman's monthly cycle.
It is also considered the most fertile period in a woman's cycle, meaning chances of getting pregnant are quite on the high side.

Signs of Ovulation.
1. An increase in the basal body temperature of the individual about 24-36hours before ovulation occurs.

2. A change in the cervical mucus. It becomes clear, stretchy, slippery like egg white.

3. A sudden  rise in the blood level of the Leutinizing hormone.
This can be detected in the urine with the help of specially made ovulation predictor kits.

4. Breast tenderness in some women.

5. Increased sex drive.

6. Slight cramping on one side of the pelvis.

Factors that affect Ovulation.
-  Blocked tubes due to endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease or surgery may hinder ovulation from occurring.

- Low body weight can stop ovulation.

- Hormonal imbalance.

- Thyroid disease.

-  Stress and excessive exercise.

Other Facts about Ovulation.

- An egg released during ovulation lives for between 12-24hours after release from the ovary. If no fertilization, the egg degenerates after 24hours.

- Normally only one egg is released per ovulation as the ovaries take turns to do so each month.

- Ovulation can be calculated by starting with the 1st day of the last menstrual period or by calculating 12-16 days from the next period.

- According to the American society for Reproductive Medicine, if a woman has a typical 28 day cycle, she is likely to ovulate between days 13-15. And if her cycle is between 28-34, it may likely occur between days 13-20.

-It is also possible to have a menstrual cycle and not ovulate and also to ovulate and not have a menstrual cycle.
This is not normal and could be as a result of underlying problems.

So for those who are trying to conceive its important that you keep track of your ovulation period as that is the window period for getting pregnant.

And in case you find it difficult to
calculate naturally, go to Google store and download apps that can help you keep track of it. Because sometimes we can easily miss the signs due to busy schedules and sometimes they just don't show.

I can recommend Flo because it's what I use and it's quite user friendly but you can choose which one works best for you. Just making a suggestion.

You can also use the ovulation predictor kit which you can get in a pharmaceutical store or even order online from online stores.

I hope you learnt a thing or two.
Any question can be asked in the comment section.
Thank you.

The Crisis of Identity.

When we went from placing value on what really matters to just external things humanity fell so hard and broke it's back. The impact of that fall is why we have so many people with low self esteem and terrible identity crises. Much more than failing economies, hunger, disease, widespread poverty is the crisis of the individual.  The crisis of seeking validation, of feeling some sort of worth and value. That inner questioning and probing that requires an answer. Sadly many people do not have the answer to that inner question. They then turn to things, all kinds of external things and invite them to come in and answer that inner man. Unfortunately the externals can't do so. They lack the capacity to answer those questions and the individual in a bid to either answer or silence that question seeks more of these externals and at every point they keep saying No, we don't have the answers. The individual is now confused, what do I do? Then he sights another human li...
