The 'six packs' Muscles.

Hello friends,
It's Tuesday again. We have a very interesting topic to look at today. It's the legendary six packs. We want to find out what are the muscles that make up that sexy six packs that most men will do anything to have.😀.
So sit tight and enjoy the ride as we embark on this journey.

The Six Pack Muscles.
The six pack muscles are simply the group of muscles that make up the anterior abdominal wall. They serve as the sheath or muscular roof that covers the abdominal cavity.

Types of Anterior Abdominal Wall Muscles:

There are basically five types of muscles in the anterior abdominal wall and they are paired. Out of these five types of muscles, three are dealt and two are vertical.

All three flat muscles continue anteriorly as a strong fibrous band that forms the midline in the abdominal wall.
The following are the names of the muscles and what they can do.

1. External Oblique Muscles:
- It is the most superficial of the three flat muscles.
-It helps to support our abdominal organs and for rotating and 'bending' the trunk forward.

2. Internal Oblique:
- Its fibres help in formation of the midline fibrous tissue.
- It's fibres lie inverse to the external oblique.
- It also helps in keeping the abdominal organs in place and supports the flexing of the trunk.

3. Transversus Abdominis:
- It's fibres are arranged in a transverse manner and it is the innermost of the three flat abdominal muscles.
- It helps to maintain the pressure within the abdomen through its ability to compress the abdomen.

4. Rectus Abdominis:
- These are a group of long, flat, strap-like muscles.
- They are arranged vertically and serve as the 'six packs' we notice on the abdomen.
- They are paired and have a fibrous sheet that forms the midline that runs between the packs.
- It helps to stabilize the abdominal organs and keep them in position.
- It also helps in exhalation and helps in the movement of the pelvis.

5. Pyramidalis:
- This muscle is present in eighty percent of people and absent in some.
- It is a small muscle that lies inferior to the rectus abdominis.
- It helps to add tension in the fibrous tissue of the midline of the abdomen.
- Where it is present it serves as a landmark for surgeons performing operations on the abdominal wall.

So I hope you now are familiar with what is contained in your six packs.
